The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is an upcoming game for the Nintendo Wii, planned to be released in 2011.
At E3 in 2009, Nintendo teased Zelda fans by unveiling a promotional image showing an adult Link standing with a mysterious blue girl. Nintendo's Shigeru
Miyamoto, creator of the Zelda series told fans to note that in the image, Link is not holding a sword, and that this Link is older than he has been depicted
in past games. Over the next year, rumours about the game were abound, but fans had to wait until
E3 in 2010 before finding out more information about the game.
Skyward Sword makes full use of motion control using the Wii MotionPlus accessory. The sword is controlled by the Wii-mote, and the shield with the
nunchuck. Players' movements will be copied by Link with full precision. The MotionPlus will also be used for Link's other items, such as the bow, bombs and
whip. Players will need to think more about strategy while they play, as enemies will also try to defend themselves more actively.
Graphically, the game is cel-shaded similarly to The Wind Waker, but style-wise the visuals appear more as a
painting than a cartoon. Link appears as an adult, similar to his look in Twilight Princess.
