Chapter One

A young girl, of the age of 12, walked into an opening of a forest. She was walking with her Guardian Fairy, Flare.
“Diane, we have been traveling for a long distance now, we should rest here,” the fairy said.
Diane looked at her fairy and said, “Yes, we should rest here.” She fell asleep on a wooden planked bridge until the morning came. In the morning, she woke-up in a different part of the forest.

There was a tree stump, an eerie looking stone door that was too high to reach, and a full tree. There were three girls in front of her that all wore green clothing.
“It’s about time you woke up! We’ve been waiting for hours!” said a girl with green hair.
“Your fairy is resting on the tree stump,” said a blonde haired girl.
“You owe us for saving you from the mad scrub!” said a red haired girl.
     “Where are we?” said Diane.
“We are in the Sacred Forest Meadow! And that stone entryway that you’re so interested in is the Forest Temple. No-one really knows what it’s like up there."
Then Flare Awoke from her sleep. “Diane! You woke up finally!” she said, stretching her arms.

“Look who’s talking, Flare,” said Diane.
“I’ve been waiting for you, it’s just I got so tired, anyways, would you Kokiri know where any food was?” said Flare.
“Sure we do! But you need to help us get safely out first,” said Saria. “There are these mad scrubs hanging around that are dangerous for us. If you have a sword and a shield, you can destroy them! And we aren’t armed and we see that you are so…”
Diane looked down at herself to see her shield on her left arm and her sword in her right. “I’ll help you. Just tell me how to defeat them,” said Diane. Saria told her and she nodded as she made her way onto the stairs. The first thing that happened was what she was prepared for. A red and greenish creature came out from a pile of leaves. Then it shot a nut-like object at her through it’s circle-like nose. Diane reflected it with her shield and it bounced back to the mad scrub and hit it. It gave a cry of pain, but wasn’t finished with yet. It ran and ran until Diane caught up with it, and struck it with her sword; she repeated this for the others and made it out of the narrow passages. Then saria told her to walk straight ahead to get to the cliff of Kokiri forest.
“Well, here we are, Diane,” said Saria, smiling. “Welcome to the village.”
There were little tree houses and leaves all around them. There was a high cliff, a river, and little kids dressed in green. They all seemed to have a tint of orange as their hair color, and they all had fairies floating beside them.
“Your village is so pretty!” said Diane in awe.
“Yes, it is beautiful isn’t it?” said the red haired girl.
“Let’s go get you guys something to eat before we show you around! This way to Saria’s house!” said the blonde haired girl. They went over to a house that had little bits of grass in front of it and a design on the walls. They stepped forward into the little opening and Saria cooked Flare and Diane a bit of soup. They ate their soup and thanked Saria for feeding them.
Then Saria said to Diane, “I want to show you someone special. Come with me.” They left the house and went just next door to find a tree house and a boy with blonde and red hair wearing a green hat came out.
“Link! Hi! I’d like you to meet Diane! She’s a friend of mine! Oh Link! I didn’t know you had a fairy now! She’s so cute!” called Saria.
Indeed, a fairy with a blue light was hovering around Link. “Hello down there! Nice to meet you Diane!” he said. Diane blushed a little. “Listen, I’ve been summoned by the Great Deku Tree so I need to hurry and get a sword and a shield so I can get past rotten old Mido. K? So I’ll see you soon! Bye!” He climbed down the ladder and rushed to a cliff with lots of fences.
“Well, that’s Link. When he’s not in a hurry he is really nice. Here, I’ll show you around more,” said Saria. After they had seen everything, Saria bid goodbye to Diane and asked if she knew her way around now. Diane nodded and told her she could fend for herself now. Diane climbed up onto another cliff and played a little instrument she called “an ocarina.” She played the melody from the forest she had been in at first. It was spectacular what the effect was. All the kids came to the center of the village and started to dance. All the guardian fairies danced overhead the Kokiri and waved around their wings. After a while of playing, the kids went back to work and Diane put her ocarina away.

Then something caught her eye. It was a clearing that was square shaped and looked unguarded. Diane’s curiosity gained the best of her and she went over to it. When she was nearly two footsteps close to it, a boy jumped out from behind a tree and scared her.
“No-one can go beyond this point unless you have business with the Deku Tree or you have a shield and a sword! Sorry for you! I’m the great Mido and I will not let you pass!” the boy said.
Diane raised her eyebrows a bit. “Well, I already do have the sword and shield that is required. I also have to magic skills if that won’t get me in,” she said.
Mido looked a little perplexed at her. “Y-You still don’t have any b-business with the Great Deku Tree! I can’t let you pass!” he said.
“Well, I have what is required to go in and I have business with the Deku Tree, and Diane is going in with me. So that is fair enough,” said Link from a bit behind them.
Mido was positively furious now. “GOOD GRIEF! Not Mr. No-fairy! Eh, but I want to see you die anyways so I’ll let you pass. Man, I hate this job,” said Mido.
They ran past him into the clearing and then a plant arose from the ground, chattering its teeth. Diane stunned it with a Deku nut she found from the scrubs.
“Hit it with your sword, Link!” she cried. Link took out his sword, and stabbed the plant in the head. It fell over and retreated back in the ground. All that was left was a stick which Link put in his equipment.

They continued on and were then standing in front of an enormous tree that had something of a face.
“Thou has returned, Navi and Flare. But who are thou, young girl?” the tree said as Diane shook a little. Trees talking? That was too cool!
“I am Diane Winds,” she said to him. “Ah… yes… I remember thou story. You come from far to the north, don’t you?” it said.
“How did this tree know where I came from?” she thought.

“Though slumber must have been restless these past moons. And filled with night mares. As servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land for those who are sensitive to it,” it said in a deep voice.
“That explains the problems in your dreams that you have been having,” whispered Flare to Diane. Diane nodded and looked at the tree again.
“Verily thou hast felt it,” the Great Deku Tree said. “Link and Diane the time has come to test thy courage,” he said. “I have been cursed. I need you to break the curse with your wisdom, strength, and courage. Dost thou have courage to undertake this task?”
The two children looked at each other for a moment then nodded. “We do,” they said together.
“Then come forth young hero and heroine. And you too Navi and Flare. Aid these two on their quest and protect them,” the Great Deku Tree said as he opened his mouth and the kids and their fairies went inside.
