Sean: I get why you put the list instead of just posting your complaints, good idea. But it doesn't matter if they change the characters just a little bit to make it fit the movie's story line, not the game. It does say INSPIRED by Ocarina of Time, so it doesn't have to follow it exactly. And in TP, Zelda is sort of brown-haired. I think everyone did a great job on the film. It could've been better, but it was still great!
Also, if you liked the movie, you should watch "The Hero of Time; Dance Party" short.

Ok, first and foremost I am a DIE-HARD Legend of Zelda fan. So much so that I have a few Nintendo systems that I only have Zelda games for. THAT'S IT! So of course a couple years ago a lovely website decided to post an April Fools joke of a trailer for "The Ocarina of Time" movie. I will admit, the trailer looked good minus one fatal flaw. LINK WAS RIGHT HANDED IN THE TRAILER! This isn't a secret. How in the world can you screw that up. So anyways, I don't want to get into a rant about that damned thing too much, so I come to find out someone actually put a movie together, even if it is low-budget, and it got me excited. So, without a hesitation, I decided to watch it. Now, I will be honest, I almost stopped 10 minutes into it because it was already starting to piss me off. Instead of me ranting and/or raving about this movie, I decided to post, like others, a pros and cons list so that I can point out the good points as well. Note: I understand someone put this together knowing they would probably get next to nothing in return for making this and are all amateurs. One would hope they would understand that with anything like this, especially making a movie like this where there is a HUGE cult following, that their work would be knit picked and heavily judged.
Pros:
1. The opening sequence had an interesting twist to how the story is told. It gave a short and somewhat informative introduction to the world of Hyrule. Maybe more should have been done but for what it’s worth it was still good.
2. The scenery of Kokiri Forest was good. I will admit it I probably couldn’t have come up with something better.
3. Link walking into a house blindly. Classic
4. Link sneaking into the castle. Thank you for bringing in the concept he had to sneak by the guards.
5. Ending the movie the exact same way the game ended. Thank god you did that right.
Cons:
1. The whole sequence of Link’s mother, a waste of time in my opinion. It added more to the story than what was needed.
2. The first con sets up this next part about Saria. Saria was one of his BEST FRIENDS, not his mother.
3. The Kokiri were KIDS. Not adults coming into their own. This is an obvious that should have never been over sighted.
4. Links hair, do I really have to go into this. Horrible
5. The Great Deku Tree was anything but great. It was small and to be quite honest, I wanted to cut it down and make firewood out of it. The Great Deku Tree is Huge, awe-inspiring, and pure greatness. I didn’t sense any of this.
6. Link, impatient? Umm…who’s dumb idea was that?
7. Rupees. Remember, their exchange is called Rupees. Not money. Another obvious that should never been an oversight.
8. Whomever made this movie attempted early on to establish Link as being left handed when he was fishing in the beginning but failed shortly after.The encounter with Link and the “thief” in the lost woods is where I really got pissed. Again, LINK IS LEFT HANDED. Why is he holding that dagger and controlling it with his right hand. He then continues to use his right hand for everything.
9. The triforce on Link’s hand. He wasn’t born with it on his hand. It only came about when Link attempted to touch it and it split it’s powers to Link, Zelda, AND Ganon. Not the King of Hyrule.
10. The Lost Woods was a joke. All that was was someone who didn’t know the area getting lost.
11. Cheese on the map. Sorry, it wasn’t cheese. It was UBER CHEESE!!!
12. The music would have been much better had it not hinted as being music from the game someone decided to change to either avoid a lawsuit or try to be creative.
13. Link was shunned and rejected initially in Hyrule, not welcomed. Why are people wanting his attention.
14. Ganondorf, not intimidating at all. I almost thought it was being played by Tim Curry very poorly. Maybe a better actor, like the rest, and a natural darker skin color, one that matches his own hands and neck. On a positive, his hair actually worked well.
15. Wasn’t Talon fat?
16. Malon was probably one of the few first characters that accepted Link. Why did she have to hit him upside his head. I understand that he was walking into her place unannounced, in which he does in the game quite often, but she was a kind hearted girl.
17. When the hell did Zelda start singing? Have her playing an OCARINA instead.
18. Impa, oh dear Impa. Probably the worst character portrayed in this “movie.” She is supposed to be intimidating. Not an old shrewd.
19. Zelda is a blonde with blue eyes and well, attractive. Her and whoever played Impa are rivals for worst acting.
20. Talon owned a MILK FARM. Not an Inn. I would have understood a farm in itself but an Inn? Answer is NO!
21. The legend behind the Master Sword was never that it had ANY influence on time itself. It was a side effect of Link being too young and not being ready for it. Why would you rename it The Sword of Time. Grr…..
22. Link and Zelda NEVER kiss. It was only something to add humor in the cartoon series.
23. I was trying to leave production value out of the cons but “Give This Our Daily Bread” written above the door to the Temple of Time. This is not a knock on religion by any means but really, you had to use a church?
24. 5 years? Try it was 7 years.
25. So, they can do all the effects, as horrible as they may be, for the monsters but not for the Goron’s? And no reference to the mountain being called Death Mountain, or maybe I didn’t hear it.
26. Why in the world would you give Ganon the ability to fly? Is that supposed to mean there will be a GOOD movie on Zelda when pigs fly?
27. Is it safe to say the person who came up with everything was also very sexist. The Gerudo were a tribe of women. Not men posing as soldiers.
Ok, so that is my list of pros and cons and to be honest, I got sick and tired of writing the cons halfway through the movie and tried to keep to the promise I would not comment on the production. Again, I do understand that this is a fan/independent film on the game but overall I wasn’t just disappointed, I was heart broken. I really hate saying this cause I know a lot of hard work went into this but God that sucked. No wonder Nintendo wanted it taken down and be ridden of. I think the only good thing that may come out of this is Myamoto and Nintendo will get together and put together a Zelda movie and hopefully it will be a new chapter in the Zelda series. Let’s be honest, is it even possible to fit every single element of any of the games into even maybe a 3 hour movie. My personal opinion would be have Myamoto create a brand new story line and build your movie off of that. Same premise, just different like every other Zelda game has been. Then we won’t be able to judge the movie for how it follows the story line or premise of one of the games but tell a new story we can’t sit there and tear apart. In closing I guess I will say this. Valiant effort on you guys to making this movie. Hopefully you knew that you would not get much, if any, in return. If you ever feel the need to do similar future projects, please do your appropriate research and maybe some us die hards won’t be so quick to cry foul. Don’t stop believing in the dream. Just learn from the mistakes you made to make that dream come true.

It was the worst fucking movie i have ever seen! The acting SUCKS, the effects SUCKS, the scenery SUCKS. The movie do NOT have the Zelda charm at all. I really hope they learned a huge lesson.

Ok, I think for the effort that was put into this as an independent film it's really good. Here is my list of pros and Cons...
Pros:
- I think out of all of the Zelda spawned Kokiri forests (aside from the one actually in game) this one was really well played.
- I loved the Music -- whoever did that get's an A+ in my book
- The visuals, although the low budget of the film resonated in actual production of it, were really good and I did like a few of the things they did and used.
- As far as what I understand of the story I though these guys did a really good job portraying it and the camera angles chosen for some shots were really powerful.
Cons - (I am a pretty big fan of Zelda (not a #1 fan, but I digress))
- The link they chose... Too Old, too blonde (yet not enough --- I keep wanting Link to be an actual blonde, but people seem to think a wig suffices. No, it just makes it look cheesy and I don't like it when people take my favorite childhood icons and make them cheesy, but this wasn't as bad as others I've seen), and he looked more comfortable in my mind with a swimsuit and a surfboard than the hero of time get-up.
- The acting... Well, some were better than others so I'll give them that, but overall the acting seemed a little off to me.
- I don't get why people can't just walk in a straight line... Well ok, why link can't walk in a straight line. It may just be the early forest scenes, but he looks slumped over and jostles from side to side. He isn't a kid from our Modern day standards --- He is a kid from Medieval day standards. I know you may not get ye olde english in Zelda games, but at least try to pull off the aesthetic a little more.
However, considering all that was done it was overall a fairly well developed independent film, but I think a little more would be required for an actual feature film...

I personally think, this is a fantastic effort. It's full of zelda charm, emotion, great acting. The effects are well done considering this is a fan project. People seem to expect million dollar production value, but its not gonna happen if its fan made. Sure, as a zelda fan, i will say theres a couple of bits i thought were a bit... i dunno, "not right", but thats not a big deal. People need to learn to enjoy something, rather than pick it to pieces because it didnt meet their over the top expectations.
A BIG thumbs up for the team behind this, they all deserve a round of applause! Here's to hoping they plan a sequel! :D

This movie was honestly amazing. Considering that it was a fan-made film, it was at the top. Effects were phenomenal and the acting was pretty decent in my opinion. Two Thumps UP.

Never seen a movie based on a game done right until now. You can't put all the game in a movie therefore the choices made are totally understandable.
The acting is better than the average compared to others movies released nowadays.
Specials effects are incredible, not only are they nicely implemented but the style is the same as the original game.
What I liked the most is the soundtrack, there's no abrupt cuts in the flow, it gives life to the movie.

i think that u people need 2 chill out on the people who made this movie cuz there the only 1 whos made 1 so far. u cant blame them 4 the crapy effects on the movie cuz they hav low money 2 make it. besides making an incridible videogame like zelda into a movie is hard and takes a long time 2 make. u cant make it an exact copy of the videogame, in a movie navi cant fly around link constantly unless u were computer generate her, people would think that would b kind of stupid, however putting in faries and other zelda characters making them look a little different from the game however making them look cool and interesting would make the movie look good attracting people 2 watch the movie, which means more zelda fans, we can never hav 2 many zelda fans, dont u think?

Holy Hyrule! That was AMAZING! I got everything I expected and MORE! Original story line, great acting, and AWESOME battle scenes! I didn't even mind the accents after awhile! Shigeru Myamoto would be proud!

omg my gosh. you people are to much of criticts. i mean i expected more like um a better link. um i wanted more action. more blood i mean th eblood was tissue my gosh. but you can't say it was horrible. i thought it was ranked a 4. o and who knows when the new zelda comin out i got to know now. i can't wait. but it was a ok movie =)

I honestly think it was an awesome movie.Sure they made a few mistakes, but overall i think it's awesome. Something i liked about it was they changed it up a bit.In fact i give it a 10. :)

oo...i would also like to add i would have liked it if you had been able to design an actual hyrulian shield...would have been cooler...as well as if the master sword looked like the one in the games...

For me personally i think zelda is a very hard story to make into a movie...like gads no one ever talks in the games...its all just text!....but i do admire those who have at least given it their best shot to make a film of it...i will say i thought the acting was moderately good...with the exception to the un-needed accent....i will say this is a very good piece of work for an independent film...i dont think ive seen a better one...but of course i do have cons to this as well....personally i dont like when the story gets changed from video games to movies....two examples are the resident evil series and the soon to be released prince of persia movie...neither follow the actual story line and therefore my interest is lost....although i will admit some of the changes on here were intersting and i could tell alot of them were to shorten the movie but keep all the information....i will also say i would actual like a DVD copy of this because it is actual pretty good so im hoping you guys can create one soon....so i will say good job to all of you that made this...but remember there is always room for improvement...

I have mixed feelings about this movie. I have to say it was a little better than I thought it was going to be.
Here's my pros for it.
1. The music was wonderful. Even though it sounded nothing like the music from the game it was still great.
2. The beginning was a little cool. I liked how it was told while looking at a drawing.
3. The evil beast creatures in the drawing at the beginning of the movie were way cool.
4. They did better than I thought they would being a low budget film.
Sadly there are more cons than pros.
1. The acents were horrid. Why couldn't they have talked normal?
2. The acting sortta sucked. Sorry but it did.
3. The blood looked so fake.
4. Fight seens didn't look close to being real.
5.Costumes either looked like normal street clothes, or bad, shiny, horribley sowed street clothes.
6. Why did Malon have to die?
7.EVerything was rushed. This is not the type of story that can be squshed into one movie.
8. You should have made Zelda and Link at least teens. That's one of the wonderful things about zelda, the hero is just a young boy who does more than anyone would think.
The triforce drawn with sharpie on the back of their hands, not so cool looking.
9. Why did you try to replace a goron with an islander dude?
10. We only got to see two of the sages.
11. you never showed link going inside the castle. I mean you cut out a really cool part.
12 you only had fight seens at the weee end.
13.Zelda's discise was really bad.
14. Why didn't you include more of the awsome monsters in the film?
There are more cons, but I'm tired of writing so ya. I know I had a lot of cons for the film, but let me at least say I would watch it again. It wasn't all bad. I'm really happy you made it. I hope you learned and grew from making it.

Great, only problem, Link's hair in the beginning was wig, but then real, it didnt bother me that much, but I don't care, it was awesome. I didn't care that the effects were kind of..well..poop, but hey low budget, but good acting (except for the faked British accent which was unnecessary)

Knowing that this was just a fan film, I did not expect anything to be remarkably breathtaking, like something from harry potter or the lord of the rings trilogy. However, I felt like you guys could have put so much more into this project and the result from it still looked incomplete and came from lazy amateurs. I know that this was made on a low budget, but the special effects looked like they could have been used from the 90's(maybe even earlier). They could have been made up by a child. It was obvious that they were fake and with the actors up against them, it just looked wrong. I liked some of the new music, but it didn't give the games' original music any justice. Some of the lazy bits included seeing David Blane's original hair color through the wig in numerous scenes, the triforce on the back of the hand looked like it was drawn from a simple sharpie pen, and the automatic jump from scene to scene, or blacking it out quickly made it seem like you guys were in a rush to finish the film. The action in the battle sequence with Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, and his men was pretty good, but i was annoyed that you guys only showed that at the end and not throughout the rest of the film. Also, Zelda's lack of being a sage and having powers made her seem weak and pathetic. To think that you guys have worked on this for a long time is rather sad. I was really looking forward to this and i didn't see much committment, energy or meaning behind any of it.
However, since I gave my opinion and it was on the more negative side, I'll add in some positive input. I liked that you altered some of the characters, such as making Saria Link's mother. The alterations not only shortened up the film, but balanced it out more in the storyline. I'd like to extend a big congratulations to the actor who played Ganondorf; out of all the characters in the film, he gave an outstanding performance. He portrayed so many of Ganondorf's cocky, arrogant and evil characteristics and schemes, and he even had the perfect evil voice to top it off. I was very pleased with that.

i give props for making a full length film thats more then i can say. But how can u call it a fan film?????
lets run down the list shall we?
Zelda has blond hair not brown. link is clearly wearing a wig if u couldnt find a good blond chick why didnt you give her a wig?
next would be the ocarina of time. I know for a fact you can buy a real ocarina of time the fact that they had some purple tiny thing is just sad.......even a blue one would have been better then purple. didnt even have to look like the ocarina of time exactly but the same colour would have been nice.
there is a difference between ganon and ganondorf. every once and a while they called ganadorf, ganon.
while on the subject, ganon is not a flying dragon he is a giant angry boar like creature that will eat your face.
You are supposed to use the song of time to open the temple of time im not sure what he played but it was not the song of time.
link would not leave a guy tied up in a forest
gorons are not fat Asian men (no offense intended to the asian men)the goron is a really simple form to make and the fact that they skimped out there is just sad. bottom line. either put the effort into a good goron or just do not add them in.
does everyone recall that digital master sword that was in the temple of time? what was the point of having that when you had a real life master sword that looked way better then the fake.
WHY DOES EVERYONE IN MED EVIL TIMES HAVE TO HAVE AN ENGLISH ACCENT!!!! i would not have minded if the accents were good......but they weren't. they were terrible and I am surprised no one mentioned that while filming this.
i am not even going to go into what i think of the tri-force on the back of the hand. there is limited resources and then there is just being lazy.
and this may seem like I am being picky but link did not get his earring until the future when he trained with Impa so why did he have it since the very start.
they have saria as his mother.......why..why, why, why. Why did he need a mother hmm? saria was his friend and that was good why change her role to links mother??? then there is the whole rupee thing.....if ur not going to have rupees as the main form of money (which is stupid this is zelda we are talking about) then don't go and give the clerk a rupee and have him biting it to make sure its real.and whats with those servants ganondorf had. they really spoiled the mood and looked ridiculous. u can buy way better looking fake jewelry at a dollar store why does ganondorf's look so bad. and for a zelda movie there sure was a lack of actual zelda music......especially the theme song. The zelda theme song should have been over used not under.
I did not expect great production quality but I did expect a movie that was true to zelda. i had very high hopes. I mean this was made by the fans or so I was led to believe. there was a lot of mistakes that being a fan film should not have been, the characters didn't act like they should, once again, being made by fans this should not be. i mean, for the first time zelda wasnt even wearing her tradmark dress......didnt even have to look like hers i would have excepted a simple pink dress and don't give me that "oh well she was wearing it latter" for are first viewing of her she should have dressed like standard zelda............AND WHATS WITH LINK AND ZELDA KISSING!!!!!!

This was not a fan film. This was a somebody who briefly scanned the wikipedia article film. You may have a site, but it seems you've never played any of the games.

it was a good movie but the guy that played link stunk. link desurves better. zelda was k. ganon good. comparred to the game it was a 4. if it was my first time seeing it 6. but overall nice.

I think for an independent project this was pretty decent. Obviously it doesn't have the SFX of an A-list movie, but it didn't need that to entertain me. I think you could have used a few more actors in your line-up, but with those that you had, you did really well...
Overall grade of an A kiddo

This movie is fantastic! Sure, a few things were left out, but how much can you put in one movie? Considering the limits that were put on the film makers, the movie is that much better! I am so happy this movie is finally out, and I just want to thank everyone who put their time and effort into this film! I loved it!
