Kokiri

The Kokiri are a childlike people, who live only in Kokiri Forest in Hyrule. The Kokiri are sheltered and protected by the Great Deku Tree, and if they leave the forest their lives will come to an end. All the buildings in the Kokiri Forest are in hollowed-out tree trunks.

Each Kokiri has a guardian fairy. While they look like children, some of them are very wise. Their exact ages are not known, for they never age over time. The Kokiri are playful but fearful of the unknown, for they are so sheltered from the outside world. They dare not even venture into the Lost Woods surrounding their forest. It is rumoured among them that Kokiri who get lost in the woods turn into Skullkids, and people who get lost in there become Stalfos.
