CHAPTER 2

Nabooru helped Evan up, "What happened?" she asked.  Evan stood up "I..I saw that man,"  "Man?" Nabooru replied  "Yes, the one that was here before." he told Nabooru.  "What do you mean, are you alright?" she questioned.  Evan ignored her question, "Who was he, the man in here before?" he demanded.  "That was Link, we found you lying on Hyrule Field, remember?" she responded.  "Oh," said Evan sounding slightly disappointed, "What is your name?" he asked, "I'm Nabooru." she responded.  "Nabooru." Evan repeated.  Someone bust through the door and called out to her, "Nabooru!" they sounded angry.  "Yes?" she asked puzzled.  A man rushed into the room and grabbed her arm, he gave a puzzled look at Evan "You come too."  Evan brushed his hair out of his face and followed after them.

The man was resonably tall and had dark brown hair with a beard as well.  Where are we going? he questioned himself.  The man had a worried, but still angry, look on his face as he pushed his way out the door into the sunlight.  The sun was bright on Evans eyes and he covered his face with his arm.  He blinked a few times then wiped his brow, the temperature was hot in this small town.  Some of the people they passed stared at Evan.  They kept going along a sandy track at a fast pace.  Nabooru tripped but Evan helped her up.  They finally reached a set of stairs and they went down and then the man stopped and pulled out a set of strange keys.  He stepped in and grabbed the torch to light up a small room with a table, two chairs and a small cupboard with some food stacked on it.  "You have to stay in here, Nabooru." he told her with a serious look on his face, "The things in here should last you for a few days, maybe a week." After that he looked at Evan, "You can't stay here, do you have anywhere else you can be?" he asked.  Evan didn't know anywhere else he could go, "He can stay with Link, in the forest" Evan looked at Nabooru.  "Sorry, but you have to go to Link now!" the man interrupted.  Nabooru pushed the door open, enough to talk to Evan, "Go up these stairs and out of Gerudo Fortress, then go straight ahead, past the ranch" she took a deep breath "Look for a tunnel, go through it, then you will be in Kokiri Forest." The man looked at him, "Go! Now!" he yelled and he closed the door on Nabooru.  Evan saw the worried look she had on her face as the door slamed.  The man pushed him towards the stairs, Evan rushed up the stairs.  He pointed to a pathway infront of Evan and ran in the other direction.  Evan watched him disappear around a corner then turned to see an exit.  He headed out and tried to remember where Nabooru had told him to go.

When Link got there, he noticed something strange about the forest The forest is quiet, too quiet, he thought.  He walked around, trying not to make any noise.  He passed his own house, the curtain that was his front door rippled in the wind.  He didn't know why it was so quiet, he passed by the few houses that belonged in Kokiri Forest and went to talk to the Deku Sprout.

"Ahh, my son Link!  We haven't talked in so long." the Deku Sprout smiled.  Link smiled back "What happened to everyone in the forest?" he asked.  The Deku Sprout answered "Well, Saria found that strange stone in the Lost Woods and she thought it was a bad sign so she told everyone to get out of the forest and go hide in the Lost Woods."  Link wasn't surprised, he knew Saria would take those precautions, "I know about this and those seven students of Sira Desert Temple can't be trusted with those stones." He said angered.  "That's where you have to go, Link, to the Sira Desert Temple" the Deku Sprout continued and gave Link the directions.  As Link left, the Deku Sprout called out to him "You will meet someone who will be a very valuable friend to you," he paused, "You may not like them for what you know of them, but please take this person with you - trust me."  Link turned to look once more at the Deku Sprout and left.  He walked slowly through the forest.  He checked in Saria's house on the way, no one there.  He continued on at a slow pace, he glanced at the directions by his side.  Looks like a fair way, I'll go tomorrow morning, thought Link.  He headed to his house and climbed the ladder as the sun started to go down.

Evan reached Hyrule Field quickly.  Go striaght ahead... he recalled in his mind.  He started to jog.  He jogged past a few bushes and a fence.  In the distance he could see a high concrete wall,That's probably the ranch, he thought.  He reached the wall by about midday.  He was getting thirsty so he decided to go in and ask for a drink. Evan turned left, jumped the fence and run around to find the entrance.  It was just around the corner so he quickly run up the ramp.  Inside he wasn't sure where to go but he could see a large, fenced field in the distance.  In the field he could see a girl petting some horses.

"Hello?" Evan called out, she looked up at him "Hey stranger, where have you come from?" she replied.  Evan walked up closer "I'm Evan, from Kratora" he said proudly.  "Kratora, that's far away from Hyrule, did you walk all the way?" she said worriedly.  Evan responded "I'm not sure how I got here, but I have to get to... Kokana Forest?"  The girl giggled, "You mean Kokiri Forest, right?"  "Yes, thanks, what is your name?" he asked her.  "My name is Malon and you are in LonLon Ranch"  she told him.  Evan remembered his question, "May I have a drink, please?" he asked, "Sure, come with me." she told him.  They reached a door and went inside, Malon walked over and gave her father a kiss on the cheek.  He waved to Evan, so Evan waved back.  He followed Malon up some stairs and then through a door where she poured him a cup of water.  He drank it and then left LonLon Ranch back into Hyrule.

He could see a river, and further on he could see a tunnel.  The sun started to reach to the horizon. Evan began to run, so he would make it to the tunnel in time.  As he entered the forest it was very dark and quiet.  Evan looked up to see one house alight.  It was the only house alight so he walked up to it to investigate.  He climbed the ladder and knocked on the wall.  The curtain drew open quickly to reveal the man that he saw the other day, he looked slightly angered that someone was bothering him.  He was still wearing his green tunic from the other day, but he wasn't wearing his green hat, "Yes?" he asked.  "Hi, I'm Evan, um, Nabooru told me to come here to find Link" Evan told the man.  "Oh, I'm Link," he said and pointed to himself, "Come in."  Evan walked in and looked around, it wasn't a very big room either. What's with all the small rooms in this place?! he thought to himself.  "What is your name?" Link asked.  "Evan."

Evan sat down on the chair as Link sat on his bed, Evan brushed his hair away from his eyes.  Link looked up at him from the movement, "Why are you here?" he demanded.  Evan was shocked from this question, he didn't seem to be a bad guy but he was demanding things out of him, "Nabooru is in trouble, I'm not sure why but some man locked her in a dungeon."  Link bowed his head and looked at the floor, "Yeah, I know"  Evan wanted to know how, but he didn't think Link wanted to tell him.  "Saria, my best friend, has disappeared, I think she is being protected as well" Link run his hand through his hair and then looked up.  "Let's sleep." Link annouced and blew out the candle, "You're on the floor."  Evan slipped off the chair onto the floor and slept on the rug.
