In particular, we have a number of young members here, and sometimes the issues you may want to discuss are not always suitable for these members. The following rules now apply:
Mature Content in Posts
I have added mature tags to the board, so that if you want to post something not suitable for younger members, you can hide your text.
The tags are used as follows:
- Code: Select all
[mature]Mature content goes here[/mature]
Which will produce (please note that this post does not contain any mature content, but a demonstration of how the tags work):
[mature]Mature content goes here[/mature]
A button labeled 'Mature Content' is found on the reply page, which will implement these tags. The tags will white out the text, so in order to read the post you will need to use your mouse and highlight the text after the warning.
Mature Content in Topics
If you are creating a topic that will contain a lot of mature discussion, post a warning in the topic title, and that way the replies do not have to use the mature tag, as this can get tedious. For example:
Birth Control - Topic contains mature discussion
Mature Images
If you are posting a mature image (including fan art), post the URL only of the image, and hide that behind the mature tags, i.e.
[code][mature]http://www.mysite.com/url_of_image.jpg[/mature][code]
Do not use the image ([img]) tags.
What is and isn't mature?
The opinion of each member may vary as to what is and is not mature content. Use your best judgement and common sense here. You may be perfectly comfortable talking openly about your sex life, but you should realise that some members may not feel comfortable reading this, and therefore such posts should be labeled. Also, think about how TV shows, movies and games are classified. Another way to judge is to consider the following: Would you be comfortable to be caught reading it at school or work? Would you be comfortable if your parents saw you reading it? If the answer is no, hide the content, and that way no-one can stumble upon it accidentally. Many people initially come here because of Zelda, and it may be a shock for them to unexpectedly click on what seems to be an innocent topic, only to find inappropriate content.
If you want to post something that some people may consider 'too much information' (even though it's not necessarily mature), the mature tags may also prove useful.
Most importantly: If you aren't sure, don't post it. Or seek the advice of a moderator.
Abuse of the mature tags
If you want to mess around with the mature tags to joke, post a note in your message that makes it clear the content hidden is not mature. If the mature tags are used to hide random comments, members will not know whether or not such marked posts are indeed mature, and may start highlighting them all.
What is forbidden:
The following are forbidden on this forum, however this list is not limited to: pornography; excessively violent images; photography of breasts and genitalia; graphic descriptions of sex and/or violence (if you want to include sex or violent scenes in a fanfic, make sure the topic is labeled appropriately); 'shock' images; encouraging abusive, illegal or destructive behaviour.
If you choose to highlight a post marked as mature, or click on a topic labeled mature, you do so at your own risk. While myself and the staff at Legends Place will do all we can to keep this place suitable for everyone, we cannot be held responsible for what you read if you choose to view a mature post.
These rules are in place so that you should avoid coming across content unexpectedly that may make you uncomfortable. Violation of these rules will result in a warning, or permanent ban from this message board.
